Lawry’s – Beverly Hills, CA

February 1, 2012

Though we live two hours away, we had to partake in dineLA Restaurant Week (happening now through Friday, 2/3, in the Los Angeles area) and score our 3-course meal for $44 at LAWRY’S The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. Alani and Rigel were willing to embark on the long car ride because we were meeting up with Auntie Stacey and Josh for dinner.

Lawry’s The Prime Rib located at: 100 N. La Cienega Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA 90211

Alani and Auntie Stacey – both so excited for the prime rib

Alani is a serious carnivore and was very excited about eating a prime rib dinner. She loves the story of when she was 1 1/2 years old sitting in her high chair and chanting, “Meat, meat, meat!” We wanted to give the girl what she asked for.

Alani’s kids’ dinner: 5-ounce prime rib, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green peas

Alani happily finished her 5-ounce prime rib and then proceeded to eat another portion (around 6 ounces) that her grandmother shared with her

For the DineLA Restaurant Week deal, our meal included a salad, an 8-ounce prime rib, lobster tail, two sides, Yorkshire pudding, and dessert. It was an awesome meal at a great price! If you haven’t been to Lawry’s and enjoy a good prime rib dinner, take advantage of DineLA Restaurant Week and try it out.

What a deal thanks to dineLA Restaurant Week: salad (not pictured), lobster tail, 8-ounce prime rib, mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed corn, and dessert (not pictured) for $44 per person

The menu says, “Every standing rib roast at Lawry’s the Prime Rib is specially selected, then aged and roasted for natural tenderness.” It’s the truth.

Unlike Alani, Rigel is not interested in eating meat at all. His favorite dish usually involves cheese (like mac ‘n cheese, cheese burger or pizza), which Lawry’s did not offer. However, Rigel discovered Yorkshire pudding at Lawry’s and ate that for dinner.

Yorkshire pudding is baked in small skillets until puffy and golden brown. This is Rigel’s favorite part of this meal.

For dessert, Alani had raspberry sorbet. I ate the chocolate trifle and Rigel ate chocolate pudding.

Chocolate pudding is part of the adults’ 3-course meals, though Rigel ate most of the pudding.

The dinner and dessert were delicious. It was A LOT of good food. Our leftovers came in handy for dinner the next night. Even the Yorkshire Pudding tasted yummy 24 hours later.

Alani and Rigel both gave two THUMBS UP for Lawry’s. Alani says the prime rib is a close second to her favorite dish – Auntie Stacey’s rack of lamb. She’s hooked on Lawry’s now and says it was totally worth the two-hour drive. Rigel wants to go back for more Yorkshire pudding.

Now she keeps asking me when can go back. My answer is in October when dineLA has the next Restaurant Week.

Our friend, Josh (aka FoodGPS) had never been to Lawry’s until that night. Just like Alani and Rigel, he gave Lawry’s two thumbs up, too. It was a meal enjoyed by everyone. We will be back in October.

Now for something completely different…The Restroom Review.

The ladies’ restroom at Lawry’s has front room with a comfy chair and a full-length mirror. This may be a good place for mothers to nurse.
